Karin van Rooyen-Winkelman


Karin van Rooyen-Winkelman, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Slovenia in Netherlands (from 2009 to present), is a Dutch entrepreneur specializing in experiential marketing, cross-border entrepreneurial matching, network consulting and fundraising for social goals. The area’s of her work as Honorary Consul are the conurbation of Western Holland (The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Utrecht), South Holland (Noord Brabant & Limburg) and the provinces Noord Holland, Friesland and Groningen.
She was co-founder and first President of the NL Federation Business Women and member of the Board (2003-2007) of The Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (known as VNO-NCW).
For the Dutch Government, she has presided various committees to promote entrepreneurship in Netherlands and abroad.
She was President of the Commission Educational Network entrepreneurship (ONO), an initiative of the Dutch ministry of Economic affairs and the ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
As mission leader and aid to the Dutch Trade Minister she has led various trade missions in Europe and South Africa.
Karin is founder of Yente, an international organization that promotes the visibility and entrepreneurship of women elsewhere in the world as well as co-founder of 4Days International a foundation established to encourage cross-border business for small and medium sized businesses.
She is Vice President of Corps Consulair Netherlands, Secretary of the Association des Consuls de La Haye, boardmember of the Union dès Consuls à Rotterdam and Secrerary General at European Federation of Honorary Consuls F.U.E.C.H.
She was awarded a Knighthood of the House of Orange Nassau in 2007 for her work helping entrepreneurs in the Netherlands to meet their counterparts in Europe.

Karin is married to the international filmcomposer and pianist Laurens van Rooyen (www.laurensvanrooyen.com). Together they have one son called Spencer.
